Because I am unable to sleep or do anything else besides wait restlessly for the minutes to slowly creep along until I can board a flight to Madrid at 7 AM tomorrow and finally see my parents, I will update you all on what I have been doing this past week, besides recuperating from the Camino…
This past week has been pretty incredible. Although Tracy left and went back to America, which really bums me out, I have been staying busy with daily trips to the beach with my friend Erin. The beach is overflowing with Spaniards as well as tourists from all over Europe. People watching is one of my new favorite past times. After a full day of laying out, we go home, shower, meet back up for dinner (our new thing is making fajitas for dinner, so yummy!) and then go downtown with the group for the night.
A couple of us took a day trip on the 24th to Benidorm which was pretty fun. It is a pretty touristy town but also has a great boardwalk so we were looking forward to getting out of the city for the day. It is about a 2-hour tram ride and only costs a couple Euros. We went to an Irish pub for lunch. Hey, we were in the mood for a burger and fries! Then, we explored for awhile before deciding on a great beach location to spend the rest of our day.
Another activity that keeps me busy and I always look forward to is the days that I go pick up Marina from school with Aurora. Aurora's daughter and her family live on the other side of town. They have a really modern apartment and an awesome gated complex with a really pretty pool and workout facility. It looks like a hotel! Anyways, I take the bus with Aurora to Marina's school and pick her up. Then, we hang out at their house until her parents come home from work. I love hanging out with Marina and she even has started to practice her English with me a little bit. Plus, she isn't afraid to correct my Spanish and remind me that I still haven't quite conquered the language. Thank you 4-year old, haha.
One thing I know I will miss when I go back home is the amazing weather. I have never really understood why people want to live in California so badly until living here. The weather is always perfect and I just love being outside. It isn’t humid or too hot like it is during Kansas summers. Reading and laying out is how I am spending basically 100% of my time. At home usually I am unable to just really relax, I always feel like I have to do doing something. I just keep reminding myself that this could be the last time in my life that I literally have zero responsibilities. So, I am choosing to appreciate it and take full advantage of it. Nothing wrong with that!
I have also been preparing for a full 10 days with my parents. I have been looking forward to this trip basically all semester. Of course we have a full itinerary, which I have so delicately been organizing for many, many weeks. My flight for Madrid leaves tomorrow and I am so anxious to greet them in the airport.
That is all I have for now! Love you all.
Love, Me.
Tick, tock, tick, tock, is it tomorrow yet??
