Sick in Spain!

Welp I officially am in Spain! I cannot believe it! I wish I could soak it all in but I am still sick and just wanting to sleep. I think my tonsils are about the size of quarters which is just not good! It is hard to focus on anything other than how I am feeling right now. It sucks because I want to experience it all! I want to talk to all of the people and try to use my Spanish but it hurts to talk. Good news is, however, it can only get better from here!

We are staying the night in Madrid at a nice hotel called Hotel Nuevo Boston. It is very comfortable and close to the airport. Plus, it has a free shuttle to the airport in the morning which is helpful! It was a long day of traveling that is for sure. We left Kansas City at 8:15 and flew to Dallas. Then, we got to Dallas, had to recheck our bags and flew to Boston. Our flight from Dallas was delayed because an older man was having trouble breathing and had to get off the plane. I had missed all of that though because I was already asleep! When we landed in Boston we only had 25 minutes to catch our next flight because of the about an hour and half delay in Dallas. Luckily, there was a group of about 25 of us trying to catch the same flight to Madrid on Iberia. We had to take a bus to the International terminal and go through security again! It was a bit stressful! Finally, we were on the plane! They served us dinner right away which was chicken and rice. I didn't eat very much because of my throat. I immediately fell in love with the Spanish tradition of having coffee and tea after every meal (or café and té) because the hot tea made me feel so much better! During the flight, the turbulence was terrible! I think we were going through a storm. Some people were getting sick but I was ok, just a little nervous! I slept probably 80% of the flight. For breakfast they served a blueberry muffin and hot tea again. It made me so happy... I know that is pathetic but at this point I take what I can get to make me feel better. Tomorrow, we fly to Alicante at 12:30 on Ryanair. The flight is only about an hour long. I can't wait to see Alicante!

Amanda and Will are at the hospital right now and hopefully Lil Bit will be born tomorrow! I cannot wait to see him and know what his name is. I told Brittany she has to email me right away when he is born! I cannot wait, I am so happy for them!

I do not know how I am going to survive without my parents... It really is going to be a challenge. I am just going to take it one day at a time. I can't wait to get to Alicante and get all settled in. Hopefully, I will be 100% soon and can really enjoy this whole experience.

That is all for now.

Love you!
Love, me.

  1. Heather,
It was so good to hear from you but was sorry that you were so sick! Hope you are feeling better by now. You did take your Z Pack did't you? You should be in Alicante by now and seeing someone about your sore throat and enlarged tonsils. Wouldn't let them do a tonsilectomy though. Just get rid of the infection and take care of the tonsils when you are back in the states.
Thank you so much for telling us how you are doing. Makes you seem closer. Actually NEARER AND DEARER!!!

PS our computer still has its virus and hopefully we will have it fixed in a week or two. Someone in Columbus knows how to fix it and hopefully our neighbor's grandson can take it there this weekend. If it stops snowing that is. We are having a snowstorm right now and the forecast is for it to get worse over night.
